1 Billion of phones are used in India. And to power these phones, we need around 10 Billions Wh of electrical energy. Out this 10 BWh 7 BWh comes from our thermal plant, where coal is mainly used to produce electricity. 1 Kg of coal produces around 2 KWh of electrical energy and 1.5 Kg to 2 Kg of CO2, CO and other polluted gases to atmosphere. So we are burning around 3,500 tons of coal daily to power up mobile phones. And in return we get 6,000 Tons of CO, CO2 & other hazards gases (emitted to atmosphere).
